IMPE-QN grants insecticide-treated bed-nets to ethnic minority in Ba Dien commune, Ba To district, Quang Ngai province

Under the direction of the Ministry of Health (MoH), the IMPE-QN leadership appointed its mission team to take charge of distributing 1,000 insecticide-treated bed-nets to the people in Ba Dien commune, Ba To district, Quang Ngai province for the purpose ofcontinuously reinforcingthe control of the strange skin disease in this area.

Under the direction of the Ministry of Health (MoH), the IMPE-QN leadership appointed its mission team to take charge of distributing 1,000 insecticide-treated bed-nets to the people in Ba Dien commune, Ba To district, Quang Ngai province for the purpose of continuously reinforcing the control of the strange skin disease in this area.

Participants to the Bed-net Distribution Ceremony included Assoc. Prof. Phan Trong Lan, Vice Director of General Department of Preventive Medicine - MoH; Mr. Ho Dac Thoan, MSc. - Head of Department of General Planning; Mr. Huynh Xuan Loc, MSc., Vice Head of Department of Entomology and other mission members of IMPE-QN; Mr. Nguyen Khanh, BSc., Vice Director of Quang Ngai Provincial Malaria Control Centre; Dr. Dang Thi Phuong, Director of Ba To District Medicine Centre and Mr. Dinh Van But, Secretary and Chairman of Ba Dien commune, and local residents.

Under the direction of Assoc. Prof. Trieu Nguyen Trung - Director of IMPE-QN, in the opening speech, Mr. Ho Dac Thoan, M.Sc stated the purpose, significance and importance of the distribution of insecticide-treated bed-nets to the people in Ba To commune; Dr. Dang Thi Phuong made a speech on the benefit of sleeping under insecticide-treated bed-nets, gave the instructions on the usage and preservation of impregnated bed-nets. Finally, Mr. Dinh Van But on behalf of the local authority and people expressed their gratitude to the MoH, General Department of Preventive Medicine, IMPE-QN for their concerns and supports in controlling the strange inflammation disease in Ba To District in general and Ba Dien commune in particular. After the opening of the Ceremony, Assoc. Prof. Phan Trong Lan and the delegates granted bed-nets to the people whose names appeared on the list.

The purpose of these visits and meetings was to assess the malaria situation and discuss the most proactive malaria prevention activities amidst the increasing and fluctuating malaria cases in Khanh Vinh District, Khanh Hoa Province, which pose a risk of spreading to other provinces through malaria vectors and mobile populations.
