In order to enhance the State management capacity in the field of international cooperation, under the sponsorship of the GiZ project, the International Cooperation Department (ICD)-Ministry of Health (MoH) held the "Training course on professional knowledge and skills for staff in charge of foreign affairs in health sector", from 21-24 August 2012 in Bong Sen hotel, Ho Chi Minh City. Ms. Nguyen Thi Minh Chau, MSc., Vice-Head of the ICD attended and made the opening speech at the training course.
Participants to this training course included 22 cadres responsible for external affairs of departments, bureaus, units under the MoH in from the Central to the South Vietnam and some concerned localities. The lecturers were from the Foreign Service Training Center (FOSET) of the Diplomatic Academy of Vietnam-Ministry of Foreign Affairs, who are rich in teaching experience, work in pedagogic environment, and have wide knowledge base.
The training course consisted many important contents to foreign affairs in general and international cooperation in particular, including International relations, foreign policies and lines of the State at 11th Party Congress; Speaking and presentation skills in public, Protocol & Etiquette, International workshop/conference organization skills, etc. The training methods are active, providing a focus on trainees and encouraging continuous study and practice from applied lessons. Divided into 4 groups, the trainees had more chances to discuss and practise in their groups. In addition to the introduction of basic theory lessons, the training course also attached special important to practising public speaking and presentation and diplomatic skills in groups and individually.

At the end of the training course, Ms. Nguyen Thi Minh Chau, MSc., Vice -Head of the ICD highly appreciated the trainees' study results and hoped that the international cooperation network of the whole health sector would be strengthened and grow up more and more, efficiently contributing to successful implementation of the sector focal tasks in the context of international integration.

The "Training course on professional knowledge and skills for staff in charge of foreign affairs in health sector" ended up successfully, was really effective and practical, providing participants with useful knowledge for their missions of cooperating and working with other countries, at the same time making great promises of better results in management and deployment of international cooperation activites.
