In order to effectively carry out the draft of designing a data/report management system software of the National Malaria Control Programme, the Central Project Management Unit (CPMU) of VGF Malaria Project hold the workshop on collecting users' suggestions and reqirements for building the malaria management software.
The workshop was held on 14th May 2010 at the National Institute of Malariology, Parasitology and Entomology with the attendance of leaderships of 3 institutes of malariology, parasitology and entomology, representative of WHO in Vietnam, 4 project provinces (Binh Dinh, Bac Lieu, Lai Chau and Bac Can) and specialists.
Malaria information system is computerized, processes of data input and analysis are unified, helping make decision timely and correctly.
The software automates the current functions, creates reports of malaria cases and vector control, manages medicine, chemicals, mass communication and education; besides, it also has other additional functions such as drawing charts, maps and giving malaria outbreaks prediction models.
The software is built on web-based system with high flexibility, easy to use; no need to install and maintain computers at districts and provinces; can be used anywhere with a connection to high speed Internet access. The data of malaria cases is synchronized and processed quickly, timely helping the upper levels deal with the outbreaks or negative developments of the disease.
After one day, the worshop listened many constructive ideas of designing the most optimal software. The National Malaria Control Programme often change the malaria statistical form every 2 years, so it is necessary to build a software appropriate for the whole period, ensuring data security and decentralising for users of lower levels.
