To carry out the deworming plan for primary school students, the Institute of Malariology, Parasitology and Entomology Quy Nhon (IMPE-Quy Nhon) set up the plan and suggested the World Health Organization (WHO) to support additional fund and drugs for the deworming program in 7 provinces of Central Vietnam, including Quang Binh, Quang Tri, Da Nang, Quang Nam, Quang Ngai, Ninh Thuan, and Binh Thuan.
The target of the program:
- Extend helminthiasis control paradigm at schools with health communication and education combined with treatment to reduce the morbidity rate in school children.
- Enhance the knowledge and strengthen helminthiasis control measures for the community.
Between April-May of 2010, all the provinces carried out the deworming activities for school children before the summer holidays. The IMPE-Quy Nhon has organised the supervision of the deworming campaign in some primary schools. As a results, most of provinces supported the campaign enthusiastically and seriously, with the close cooperation between the health and education sectors.

The deworming program for primary school students received enthusiastic support from schools, pupils and parents, contributing to protect and improve children's health in a better and achievable way, both physically and mentally. All the schools and families also hope that this program will be carried out in more provinces and maintained yearly to improve children's health.
