Confronted with the drastic development of epidemic diseases, from July 13, 2010 the Ministry of Health (MoH) has established many mission teams to examine and monitor the control activities of dengue fever, cholera outbreaks and some summery diseases in severely-hit provinces/cities nationwide.
As planned, the MoH has set up four groups of epidemic control inspection in some severely-endemic provinces/cities of four regions which are the North (Ha Noi, Hai Phong, Bac Giang), Central (Quang Tri, Thua Thien-Hue, Da Nang), West Highlands (Gia Lai, Dak Lak, Dak Nong) and South (An Giang, Dong Thap, Ben Tre).
Participants to the investigation teams include the head who is leadership of the Department of Preventive Medicine (DoPM) and the members who are likely leader/staff of the Border Health Quarantine Office (DoPM), leader/staff of the Infectious Diseases Control Office (DoPM), leader/staff of the Financial Planning Office (DoPM); leadership/officials of Vietnam Food Administration, leaderships/staff of the institutes of hygiene and epidemiology / Pasteur institutes, leaderships/staff of the institutes of malariology parasitology and entomology, leader/officials of the Institute of Hygiene and Public Health of Ho Chi Minh City.
The mission teams are tasked to evaluate the situation and results of the plan of controlling dengue fever, cholera outbreaks and summery epidemics at localities; find out the factors to achieve good results in the epidemic prevention as well as the causes of recurrent or prolonged outbreaks to draw on experience to the general direction in the coming time; inspect and evaluate the implementation of the dengue fever control project in 2010, which is part of the National Target Program on preventing a number of emerging diseases, dangerous epidemics and HIV/AIDS; check upon and inspect the direction, preparation of supplies/equipments, effectuation of emergency epidemic control activities; report inspectation results in writing to the leadership of the MoH.

In the implementation process of inspecting and supervising activities, the Department of Preventive Medicine (MoH) also coordinated with the Institute of Hygiene and Epidemiology Tay Nguyen and the Pasteur Institute Nha Trang to hold "The conference on implementing plan and guiding surveillance and prevention of cholera, dengue fever in the second half of 2010 for the Central Vietnam" in Pleiku City (Gia Lai province) on July 16, 2010.
Excuting the MoH's plan, the IMPE Quy Nhon has appointed Dr. Nguyen Van Chuong-Deputy Director to participate in the inspection mission at the central and Dr. Ho Van Hoang-Deputy Director at the West Highlands and also participate in "The conference on implementing plan and guiding surveillance and prevention of cholera, dengue fever in the second half of 2010 for the Central Vietnam" held by the MoH in Gia Lai.

Currently, the Central Vietnam is at time of increasing dengue fever and risk of outbreaks on a large scale, so it is really necessary to carry out the inspection and supervision of control activities in terms of dengue fever and summery diseases as well as to hold the conference mentioned above so as to help severely-hit provinces prevent outbreaks effectively and timely.
