On 22 November 2010, in Buon Ma Thuot City, Dak Lak province, the workshop on malaria prevention was held with the purpose of discussing malaria control measures for the people crossing border between the districts of Buon Don and Ea Soup (Dak Lak province, Vietnam) andKaoh Nheaek district (Mondul kiri province, Cambodia).
Participating the workshop, the reperesentatives of Vietnam included Mr. Nguyen Phi Tien-Director of the Provincial Department of Health of Dak Lak, Mr. Nay Nguyen-Deputy Director of the Provincial Department of Health of Dak Lak and Head of the provincial VGF Malaria Control Project Management Unit (PMU), Mr. Ho Tan Tien-Deputy Director of the Provincial Malaria Control Centre and Vice Head of the Provincial VGF Malaria Control PMU of Dak Lak, leader of the Provincial Department of Foreign Affairs, the leaderships and staff of the Provincial Malaria Control Centre, leadership and staff of the Health centres/PMUs of Buon Don and Ea Soup district, commanders of the provincial guard stations 725, 736, 737, 739, 743, 747, 749 of Dak Lak.On the side of Cambodia, Mr. Ket Se Xieng-Director of the Provicial Department of Health of Mondulkiri, Mr. Tun Sok Kuon-Director of the Provincial Malaria Control Center of Mondulkiri, Mr. So San Rans-Director of the District Health Center of Kaoh Nheaek and the staff of the Provincial Health Department of Mondulkiri also attented the workshop.

On behalf of the Provincial Department of Health and the provincial VGF Malaria Control Project Management Unit of Dak Lak, Mr. Nay Nguyen summarised the results achieved at the workshop and suggested concerned parties to well implement the contents of the memorandum of understanding (MOU). The Border Malaria Workshop is an opportunity for Vietnamese-Cambodian border districts and provinces to share experiences of the two areas in malaria control. Mr. Nguyen Chau Thanh - Secretary of the provincial VGF Malaria Control Project Management Unit of Dak Lak submitted the draft MOU on malaria prevention of the Provincial Departments of Health of Dak Lak and Mondulkiri.

The participants discussed and unanimously approved the contents of the MOU on malaria control at the border of Dak Lak and Mondulkiri province. After the discussion, Mr. Nay Nguyen-Deputy Director of the Provincial Health Department and Head of the provincial VGF Malaria Control PMU of Dak Lak and Mr. Ket Se Xieng - Director of the Provincial Health Department of Mondulkiri carried out the signature of the MOU.  |
