Carrying out the direction of the Central Project Management Unit of VGF Malaria Control Project on the survey of malaria indexes 2009 in provinces, sponsored by the Global Fund, the Project Management Unit of the IMPE-Quy Nhon deployed 19 surveillance missions for 14 provinces of the Project.
Each mission included one medical staff from the Institute, province, district, commune and hamlet. They interviewed households and surveyed the rate of bednet impregnation, indoor residual spraying, rate of people sleeping under bednet, their knowledge of malaria control and so on.
Although the surveillane period was near the Tet holiday, the Project Management Unit of the IMPE-Quy Nhon directed drastically and deployed quickly for 19 Institute's staff to survey in 14 provinces sponsored by the project (Quang Binh, Quang Tri, Thua Thien-Hue, Quang Nam, Quang Ngai, Binh Dinh, Phu Yen, Khanh Hoa, Ninh Thuan, Binh Thuan, Kon Tum, Gia Lai, Dak Lak and Dak Nong).
During the survey, all missions met some general difficulties because the period of implementation was short (9 days) but the scope of the survey was too large (6 communes for every mission). However, under the direction of the Project Management Unit of the IMPE-Quy Nhon, the missions tried to finish their work effectively and timely.
