On 01 December 2011, at the Department of Preventive Medicine (DoPM) - Ministry of Health (MoH), the Central Management (CM) of Dengue Control Project held the meeting on the evaluation of dengue control activities in 2011 and deployment of anti-dengue plan for 2012.
Participants to the meeting included Tran Thanh Duong, PhD., Vice-Head of DoPM-MoH and Head of CM and other CM members, leaders, representatives and staff of the Project-implementing units such as institutes of hygiene and epidemiology, Pasteur insitutes, institutes of malariology, parasitology and entomology, the Central Center for Health Communication and Education-MoH.
After summarising and assessing anti-dengue activities, the meeting results showed that in 2011 the whole country had 61,852 infected cases and 56 deaths from dengue fever, in comparision with 2010 reducing by 46.8% and 42.3% in morbidity and mortality rates, respectively, in all four regions of the North, Central, West Highlands and South.
At the meeting, the CM also identified difficulties in dengue control in the past year and discussed operation plan for 2012.
